Somerset Place, once one of the South's largest plantations, offers a comprehensive and realistic view of life on an antebellum plantation in the early 19th century. Located adjacent to Pettigrew State Park and Lake Phelps, the former plantation showcases seven of its original buildings on 31 of its original 100,000 acres of land. Tours of the site explore the lives of the plantation's owners, slaves, employed whites, and free blacks.
